Purdue Student and Employee FAQs

Wednesday, June 11, 2025

Purdue students and employees may see some changes in how they purchase parking permits. Please see the FAQs below for answers to questions you may have.

Employee FAQs

Questions about parking for Purdue employees may be found below:

All Purdue Indianapolis faculty and staff employees must have an IU University ID, IU Username and IU Passphrase.

Purdue Indianapolis faculty and staff employees have the option of paying for their permit using Purdue Payroll Deduction or paying in full with a credit card.

Permits may be purchased in person or online through the Parking Portal.

Our office is located on the second floor of the IU Campus Center (420 University Blvd.) in Suite 205.  We are open Monday-Friday 8am to 5pm.

To order online through the Parking Portal:

To order online, you must have an IU Username and Passphrase, as well as an IU University ID.  To order online:

  1. Login to the Parking Portal at https://parkingiu.t2hosted.com/Account/Portal
  2. Select “Login” in the upper-righthand corner.
  3. Select “IU or IU Health Login”.
  4. Use your IU Username and Passphrase to login.
  5. After logging in, select “Get Permits”.
  6. Follow the steps and select your permit choice.
  7. Choose Payroll Deduction or pay with your preferred credit card.

Click the Print Permit link in your confirmation email to print out your temporary permit that can be used until your permanent permit arrives in the mail.

NOTE: Please make sure your mailing address is accurate for fulfillment. Vehicle information must also be accurate to comply with our LPR regulations.

Purdue Indianapolis employees may purchase their permit using Purdue Payroll Deduction or by paying the full price of the permit using a credit card.  The previous option of recurring payments using a credit card has been discontinued as of June 2025.

Part time Purdue Indianapolis employees are not eligible for Purdue Payroll Deduction and may either pay for their permit in full using a credit card or visit the IU Indianapolis Parking office each month to get a monthly permit and make payments at that time.

Purdue University will manage payroll deductions.  If you have any questions or concerns regarding your payroll deductions, please reach out to Purdue University Parking in West Lafayette.

Purdue Students

Questions about parking for Purdue students may be found below:

Permits go on sale Friday, August 1, for either an academic year permit or a fall semester permit. Students in on-campus housing are encouraged to purchase as soon as possible, as some options will sell fast and move to a waitlist.

Students attending Purdue Indianapolis will order their parking permits from the IU Indianapolis Parking & Transportation Services website and logging in with their IU credentials. If you do not have your IU credentials yet, please visit the Starter Kit to begin the process.

Students attending Purdue Indianapolis are only eligible to purchase a permit from the IU Indianapolis campus.  Similarly, students attending Purdue W. Lafayette are only eligible to purchase a permit from the W. Lafayette campus.

Students may get an IU Indianapolis accessible parking permit (D permit) by purchasing in-person at the IU Indianapolis parking office, located on the 2nd floor of the Campus Center (420 University Blvd.). Please bring in the following required documentation to purchase a D permit.

  • Required Documentation:
    • Short-term D Permit: Permits may be issued up to sixty days from the date of a signed medical note.
    • Permanent D Permit: Whether you have a state-issued ADA license plate or hanging ADA placard, BMV authorization will need to be presented. The customer name on the BMV documentation and the vehicle owner must match.
      • ADA license plate: Provide a copy of vehicle registration.
      • State placard: Bring in your placard and BMV receipt.

Reciprocity

Information about parking reciprocity can be found below:

Yes, reciprocity exists today, and faculty and staff visiting from W. Lafayette will still be able to get a parking permit to park on the IU Indianapolis campus. The faculty/staff must reach out to the Purdue parking office first, who will then send a request for a temporary permit to the IU Indianapolis parking office (due to no physical permit from the Purdue West Lafayette campus to display).

Enforcement

Questions about parking enforcement can be found below:

Please follow all signage when parking in surface lots or garages. You can find out where to park using the campus map and you can read our rules and regulations on our website.
