The purpose of the IU Indianapolis parking system is to provide reasonable access to parking facilities for faculty, staff, students, and visitors. Parking regulations help create an equitable system for all individuals driving to campus. Anyone choosing to park their car on the IU Indianapolis campus is responsible for reading and understanding the rules and regulations.
Appeal a Citation
If you receive a citation you have the right to appeal it by following these steps:
Step 1: File an appeal online, by email, mail or in person within 14 calendar days from the date of issuance.
Step 2: If your appeal is denied, you may request an in-person appeal by email or phone 317-274-4232
In Person Appeals
In-person appeals are heard via Zoom on the 2nd Friday of the following months:

Appellants will receive a Zoom invite with instructions the week of their scheduled appointment.
Important information before scheduling your in-person appeal:
- Fines must be paid in full. If the appeal is granted a refund will be processed.
- New evidence or information must be submitted in writing.
- You may bring a witness; however, they cannot testify on your behalf.
- If you miss your scheduled appointment, the in-person appeal will automatically be denied.
The decision of the Parking Appeals Committee is final.
Towed Vehicle Information
To recover a vehicle that has been impounded, please go to Wheeler’s Towing located at 2325 W. Michigan Street in Indianapolis (phone 317-262-8023).
Additional fees, including storage fees, may be owed to the tow company before the vehicle can be released. Vehicles that are not claimed may be auctioned by the towing vendor in accordance with Indiana state law.
